MANDOLIN
ITALY, XVII-XVIII century.
Handwritten label on the bottom: “Francesco Pavolini ripari il coperchio… [illegible]… anno 1767”.
The body is made up of nine snakewood ribs edged with ivory fillets continuing the back of the handle.
The spruce top is opened by a rosette in cut parchment.
The fingerboard is veneered with ebony and edged with bone binding.
The peg is carved with gilded foliage while the butt represents a grotesque face also in gilded wood.
Ten boxwood pegs.
The restoration was carried out by Daniel and Françoise Sinier de Ridder.
