AMERICAN BARYTONE

BARYTONE "over the shoulder ", by KLEMM in PHILADELPHIA.

Born c. 1795 in Neukirchen, John and Georges KLEMM came to the U.S.A. in 1815 and opened a shop of musical instruments before being maker in Philadelphia in 1819.

 

This instrument " over the shoulder " is typical of the military bands during the Civil War.

 

3 rotary valves of the american type.

Period mouthpiece.
